The Royal Landscape - Walking and Running
Walking and Running

Walking and Running

The great expanse of Windsor Great Park makes it an ideal location to explore on foot. Motor vehicles and motor cycles are restricted, so apart from the occasional estate vehicle you will often enjoy generally vehicle-free roads and tracks.

The park is open to walkers from 7am until dusk. Please keep to the paths and tracks. Some areas are clearly signed 'private' and are not accessible.

Walking your dog

The park offers thousands of acres for dog walking, but please be aware that estate vehicles operate throughout the park and you must keep your dog under control at all times.

Dogs may not enter The Savill Garden (although they're allowed in the building foyer and terrace) and must be kept on a lead throughout The Valley Gardens.

Please clear up after your dog. Bins are available in many locations.

Running

The extensive network of paths and tracks is ideal for the more energetic. A run around Virginia Water lake is 4.5 miles - or 6 miles if you start and finish at The Savill Garden.
