The Savill GardenWinter Interest – 3 Nearing the peak of the witch hazels. Winter honeysuckle and daphne in flower. Bulbs just showing – snowdrops, winter iris, early daffodils Stem colours on dogwoods and willows are now prominent. Queen Elizabeth Temperate House - 3 Winter display now in place – cyclamen, cinerarias, hyacinths and paper white daffodils.
The Valley GardensWinter Interest – 3 Nearing the peak of the witch hazels. Stem colours on dogwoods and willows are now prominent. Winter flowering heathers and coloured-foliage conifers in the Heather Garden are a feature. Plant of the Week in The Valley Gardens: Hamamelis mollis 'Pallida' in the Winter Garden (part of the Heather Garden), on bed HG75. Commonly known as Chinese Witch Hazel, they are sweetly scented and have spider-like yellow flowers.These plants are very tolerant to cold and we can expect the witch hazel displays, throughout The Valley Gardens, to continue to flower for the next 3-4 weeks . |
