Park Mark® Safer Parking Award Presented to The Crown Estate, Windsor Great Park

The Crown Estate’s five car parks within The Royal Landscape area of the Windsor Estate, have just been awarded Park Mark® Safer Parking status by the British Parking Association. The Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Associations of Chief Police Officers aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities.

Philip Everett, Deputy Ranger, says:

“We are delighted that the The Royal Landscape’s car parks, having been assessed by the police, meet the exacting standards of the Safer Parking Scheme and the measures that we have in place have been judged to create a safe environment for the public. For example, safety was integral to the design of the recently refurbished Savill Garden and Virginia Water car parks and included good lighting and a controlled entry and exit system. Accreditation on to the scheme recognises The Crown Estate’s commitment to providing the highest standards of visitor facilities and customer care”.

 Accredited Park Mark® Assessor PC Maureen Ions, adds:

“I was impressed by the fact that The Crown Estate was eager to form a valued partnership through working with the Police to put measures in place that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour. The most important factor is that the parking facilities are properly managed, maintained and have appropriate levels of surveillance, all of which contribute to reducing the opportunity for crime”.

The Royal Landscape’s car parks include the recently refurbished Savill Garden and Virginia Water car parks; the Valley Gardens and Wick Road (within The Royal Landscape) car parks; and Blacknest car park. The car parks are open from 8am to dusk.  Admission charges apply to the car parks although parking is free for the first 90 minutes at The Savill Garden.  An annual pass giving unlimited access to all car parks is available for £25 per year.
