Neil, who has worked for The Crown Estate for thirty years, said: “Donating blood is very important to me as a way of helping others. You never know when you, your family, or friends may need blood and it is vital to ensure that blood bank levels are adequate. I used to donate blood in Old Windsor and then Windsor but, since the NHSBT unit began coming to The Crown Estate just over a year ago, it is so easy and convenient to do it as part of my working day. “ Philip Everett, Deputy Ranger, Windsor Great Park, says: “The Crown Estate, as a recognised Investor in People, is delighted to support staff participating in the NHSBT ‘Donate Blood at Work’ scheme on the Windsor Estate. Blood donation is important and The Crown Estate is pleased to be able to make this contribution to the community.” Mick Bennett, Area Donor Services Manager (Reading and Slough) at NHSBT, said: "Blood is a vital resource to saving and improving the lives of millions of people every year. People like Neil are so committed to helping others and it is a pleasure for us to present him with a Gold Award for his 50th blood donation." Approximately fifty staff from The Crown Estate regularly donate blood when the NHSBT service visits the Estate. The blood collected is used to treat patients in hospitals all over the South East, including Berkshire. Ends Notes to Editors:
