Polar bear spotted at Windsor Great Park

A polar bear has been spotted in The Savill Building at Windsor Great Park. Measuring 7 ft long by 4½ft tall, made out of approximately 450 recycled plastic milk cartons, and using 800 cable ties instead of glue, Parker the polar bear is a striking figure and can be found hunting in The Savill Building.

Creator and Savill Building Manager, Anna Marshall says:

“I wanted to create a Christmas centre piece for The Savill Building and I was inspired by the popular polar bear range of Christmas decorations which we have in the Shop. I thought that it would be fun to make Parker from recycled materials, reflecting The Crown Estate’s sustainability ethos, and I came up with the idea of something which everyone has in their kitchen – plastic milk cartons. I kept secret the reason for my request to colleagues for used plastic milk cartons and, although they were mystified, staff kept leaving bags of empty cartons for me. I think that people will be quite surprised by Parker!”

Parker the polar bear will be prowling the Savill Building throughout December and after visitors have crept past him, they can enjoy free entry to The Savill Garden. The Garden is free throughout December saving £15 on a family ticket. (The Savill Garden is closed only on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
