Christmas goes crackers at The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park

Christmas at The Savill Garden is packed with unique fun Christmas activities that you will not find elsewhere. Not only is admission free to The Savill Garden throughout December, but there are lots of special Christmas treats including carriage rides, and Father Christmas workshops.

The season begins with ‘Crafts for Christmas’ 25-28 November. It provides an opportunity to buy craftwork from British crafts people and artists under one roof. Visit over 100 stalls in the heated marquee on Obelisk Lawn, adjacent to The Savill Garden. Managed by the Rural Crafts Association, entry fees apply - £4 per adult on the day or £3 per adult in advance by calling the Rural Crafts Association on 01428 684494.

Father Christmas will be making his grand entrance at 11am every weekend throughout December on a festive horse and carriage. He will be available for the children to tell him what they would like for Christmas in his grotto on The Savill Garden terrace from 11am to 4pm Saturdays and Sundays. The cost is £5 per child and includes a small gift.

Children’s Father Christmas Workshops making a 3ft high Father Christmas will be running on 4, 11 and 18 December from 2-4pm. This family workshop has been created for 1 adult and up to 2 children to work together to make one sculpture ready to take home the next day. The cost is £15 (1 adult and 2 children per ticket).

Enjoy a carriage ride through the beautiful Royal Landscape of Windsor Great Park (weather dependent). There is a new ‘Christmas Family Special’ which is £3 per person for a 10 minute ride (maximum of 6 people). Cosy lap rugs are provided.

Entry to The Savill Garden is free throughout December saving £15 on a family ticket. (The Savill Garden is closed only on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Also free to visitors and designed by the Head of The Savill Garden, ’The 12 Plants of Christmas Garden Trail’ will enable you to explore the Garden identifying special plants which have a Christmas connection.

Avoid town centre queues for Christmas shopping and visit The Savill Building Shop with a sparkling treasure trove of Christmas items including an extensive range of imaginative gifts, stocking fillers and decorations for the family. Enjoy live entertainment whilst shopping with The Royal Harmonics – Windsor A Capella Singers who will be performing in a variety of unaccompanied vocal styles on 4, 11 and 18 December from 2-4pm in The Savill Building.

Leith’s restaurant will be providing a delicious traditional Christmas menu from 6-29 December. Visitors can enjoy turkey with the trimmings in addition to the daily winter hot meals menu. There are also homemade cakes and hot drinks which are the perfect finish to a brisk walk.
