Film and TV Location Managers Check Out Filming 'Hotspots' at Windsor Great Park

TV and film location managers checked out majestic parkland, woodland, water features and buildings at Windsor Great Park on a special filming familiarisation day organised by The Crown Estate recently.

Windsor Great Park has been used for many film and tv locations including large features such as Harry Potter, Thunderbirds and Tomb Raider; together with many tv commercials, documentaries and tv dramas such as Midsomer Murders.

The Crown Estate Marketing Manager Catherine Corrigan says:

“Here at Windsor Great Park we offer a tremendous variety of filming locations and we are less than an hour from the centre of London. We receive lots of enquiries and we are always delighted to take location managers into the Park to find what they want and to offer suggestions”.

Windsor Great Park comprises 4,800 acres and includes the iconic Long Walk leading up to Windsor Castle, open parkland, tree lined avenues, ancient oaks, ponds, lakes, fields and livestock. Within the Park, The Royal Landscape includes distinctive features such as the Obelisk and Totem Pole, The Cascade and the Leptis Magna Ruins, together with a variety of buildings. The Windsor Estate Village features a post office, village green and the distinctive York Club which can provide both a location and crew facilities.

Catherine Corrigan adds:

“We offer a flexible service and try to match filming requirements as closely as possible.  We have a highly professional team who are used to supporting film crews and have many opportunities for flexible unit bases throughout the Park”.
